An One-man Show

An One-man Show

Butterflies, skeletons, and sparrows, those three elements from the paintings that are metaphors of what a girl’s mind works, and her physical transformations. Those oddly arranged layouts are showing an exquisitely weirdness, meaning that a girl’s mind could be somehow attractive due to its oddness. These pieces are inspired by a play by a modern dancer, Pina Bausch, called “The Carnation”, the dancers in the play were dancing like children, some of the male dancers even danced on women’s clothes, hinting the complex of a human’s mind. When we’re are facing fear, it’s often caused by how to survive in the society, and how to be loved or love people, even the weird kids need to face those fears, trying to live through the problems of being alive. The existence of fear inspired us to appreciate everything that is going on through the life, including physical and mental feelings, but at the end, we could never really say what caused the feelings for death, has it been there all along our lives or it’s that moment of death makes us frightened, no matter what it is, we still have to live the lives, feel the feelings until we die, and there will be a new life, like butterflies, they die for the next life, and so do we.
